DR ROBERT
at home
Robert hails from Maastricht, Netherlands from a Dutch/English family and attended the Catholic University of Leuven where he thrived studying medicine and met his wife.
Together they worked in Pretoria, South Africa, for a year and decided that life in the Southern Hemisphere was more attractive.
In 2006, they moved to Townsville, North Queensland and fell in love with the region.
Happily married, Robert and his wife both enjoy their careers and regular flying trips to stunning locations throughout Queensland. Their 2 lovely boys are about to embark on their own academic journeys.
Robert loves tennis and playing the piano and tries to keep the guitar and ukulele from rusting.
Townsville, North Queensland
Townsville is a city on the north-eastern coast of Queensland, Australia. It is the largest settlement in North Queensland and Northern Australia (specifically, the parts of Australia north of the Sunshine Coast). It is unofficially considered the capital of North Queensland. Townsville hosts a significant number of governmental, community and major business administrative offices for the northern half of the state. It is in the dry tropics region of Queensland, adjacent to the central section of the Great Barrier Reef. Townsville is still known internationally as the Skin Cancer Capital of the World, as it has the world’s highest incidence rates of skin cancer of all types. Approximately 2 in 3 Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer before the age of 70, and the number of skin cancers in Queensland is forecast to increase for the next several decades.
